Block that Tackle! LA Chargers & CRC Host Futbol Americano NFL Training Camp for Students in Bell Gardens
California Resources Corporation (CRC) recently teamed up with the Los Angeles Chargers, After-School All-Stars, Los Angeles (ASAS-LA) and the Montebello Unified School District (MUSD) to host an after-school “Futbol Americano 101” Junior Chargers Training Camp for over 200 middle school students from Bell Gardens Intermediate and Suva Intermediate. Former Chargers Cornerback Antoine Cason taught kids NFL football drills and showed them how to be healthy and active in a fun-filled day.
City of Bell Gardens Mayor Alejandra Cortez stopped by the event at Bell Gardens Intermediate and said, “This event is very vital and important for our community to get our youth active – to get them moving so that we can create a healthier community, healthier students and successful students.”
Fútbol Americano 101 is a community initiative CRC and the Chargers are bringing to greater Los Angeles that helps make the next generation of our youth more active and healthy by encouraging outdoor play while participating in NFL Play 60 drills, exercises and other fun activities.
“These after-school programs do so much for our students,” commented Principal of Bell Gardens Intermediate Jose Cuevas. “They are an extension to the day and they keep the kids off the streets. Their academic progress has increased so much when they participate in these programs.”
At CRC, we are committed to championing local communities throughout the state that represent California’s diversity by bringing free support and educational resources to them. We salute our partners at the Chargers, MUSD and ASAS-LA for their dedication to providing high-quality free programs to all students in the community. Together #weareacaliforniaresource!
